Splash Pool Activity
The temperature is soaring and there is scorching heat in and around. So to beat the heat the pre-primary students had a wonderful time in the splash pool activity. It is organized every week on Friday. The students eagerly wait to dip into the pool and feel refreshing and cool.



Mothers Day Assembly

Mothers Day assembly was conducted by class-V on Friday, 9th May, 2014. They opened their heart out and told about the significance of mother in everyone’s life. The choir touched the emotional strings when they sang “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.” The foot tappers moved and grooved on beautiful song “Maa meri maa, pyari maa mumma.” At last, the students recited a poem on mothers.On Saturday, 10th May, 2014 D.P.S. Kidwai Nagar celebrated mother’s day with great pomp and show. The mothers were given a warm welcome. They entered the portal of the school with a smile. As the day progressed, the mothers had a good time. They played innumerable and interesting games like balance the balloon, tie the rope, blow the matchstick, musical chair to name few. Later on they were felicitated with attractive gifts. Thus it was a perfect morning to recognize and appreciate the contribution of mothers in one’s life.


Health Camp
The school aims for the all round development of the students. Keeping the same in mind a health camp was organized in school on 15TH July, 2014. The students were given a check-up by a team of renowned doctors. They underwent height and weight measurement, dental, vision and general health check. The doctors took up an interactive session with the students and told them the important points  to how to be fit and health.

Co-Curricular Activities
Co-curricular activities are a means of channelizing student’s instincts into a healthy and fruitful channels. By providing a number of co-curricular activities. School can ensure the expression of potential capacities of each student e.g. writing, dancing, painting, different games and sports which provides training in different aspects of personality of students. Keeping all this in mind DPS Kidwai Nagar has come up with several co-curricular activities like :-

Ice-Cream Party
The tiny tots dug their tooth on cool and yummy ice-cream on 13th May. They relished it with great pleasure and their hearts were asking for more and more. They played exciting games and had a good time. They were awestruck to see the puppet show. It captured their attention. It was a fun day for the toddlers for sure.

Teacher’s Day
On the occasion of teacher’s day, students of class IV & V organized a special programme for the teachers. The students welcomed the teachers by giving flowers and cards. Later on they highlighted the importance of teachers in student’s life. They conducted different games for the teachers and the day turned out memorable for all the teachers.


Labour Day

Helpers – Our Helping Hand
On Thursday, 1st May 2014 Class III extended the gratitude to all the helpers for their service. They told that helpers do various selfless deeds and help us in our needs. Though they work hard day and night yet do not get their right. Therefore we should say ‘Thank You’ and be grateful to them. The fourth class employees were offered refreshment and were given gifts as a token of love.

Earth Day

On Tuesday, 22nd April, 2014 Earth Day was celebrated. Class III threw light upon the pros and cons of the nature. They told us to say ‘Yes’ to afforestation and ‘No’ to deforestation. Innumerable waste products should be recycled and reused. Each child took vow to plant more and more trees. Later on that day the students planted sapling and watered it with a smile.



Colours Day

The Pre-Primary students were taught various colours in a play way manner. First on Red day, they were asked to get red colour fruit- apple. On Blue day, they carried their favourite blue colour toy. Furthermore, on green day, they brought green vegetables which keeps them fit and healthy. On Yellow day, they got mango shake or frooti. This way they were able to learn about colours. All of them looked cute when they wore coloured attires according to various Colours day.  

Baisakhi

On 16th April, the tiny toddlers celebrated Baisakhi. It was a bright and a colourful affair. The entire ambiance was converted into mini Punjab. The Jashn was musical. The choir sang lovely Punjabi song and the tots shook their booty on peppy Punjabi number. They were told about the importance of agriculture and farmers in our country. It is a harvesting festival which is celebrated enthusiastically in Punjab. It is the symbol of prosperity.

Colour Days

To clarify the concept of colours, various colour days were celebrated in the school for the Pre-Primary students. The students came dressed up in different coloured attires to celebrate the days. The students participated in activities like Go Green, Paint me Red, Nature Walk and many more which re-emphasized the concept of colours.

       

Earth Day

Taking care of earth is not just responsibility - it's a privilege. To inculcate the importance of being eco-friendly a week long workshop for the students was organized at DPS Kidwai Nagar. Thematic quotations on display, added to the motivational campaign. 'Nature Scavenger Hunt' a nature walk in the school premises along with an interactive session on Mother Earth was conducted wherein the students were briefed about the importance of nature. The students tried their hands on the Potter's Wheel and made cute pots for themselves. An audio visual clipping depicting the beauty of Mother Earth was also shown to the students. "Each one plant one" a Sapling plantation activity was also conducted for the students wherein they learnt the use of different gardening tools and the need for planting trees.

       

World Book Day

On the occasion of World Book Day, DPS Kidwai Nagar organized a Story Reading Session.The session was conducted by Ms. Rohini Vij from Scholastic. The story session on stories like the Gingerbread Man and the Hungry Caterpillar using appropriate hand props was quite interesting and caught the attention of the students. The students were made aware of the importance of reading and took a reading pledge. The students thoroughly enjoyed the session.

       

Pidilite

An Art and Craft workshop in collaboration with Pidilite was organized at DPS Kidwai Nagar. A pidilite kit was provided to each student which was used for the Quelling Activity under the guidance of the Pidilite team. All the children participated enthusiastically in the Quelling Activity and made very beautiful Mother's Day Cards for their mothers.

       

Do They Move?

One of the easiest ways to keep children on task is to create some simple learning activities and allow them to explore the world around them. Keeping this in mind and to make learning fun, Delhi Public School,  organized  an activity 'Do They Move' The students were provided with an activity sheet in which few objects were made. They were asked to colour only the objects that can move. The objective of the activity was to make children aware of the different modes of transport.

Get Set Go

To break the monotony of classroom teaching a PowerPoint presentation was about different animal movements. The students enjoyed the presentation and tried fun movements (hopping, jumping, crawling etc).

Catch me if you can

A riddle activity "Catch me if you can" was organized for the Pre-Primary students  The spontaneity and excitement of the students for answering the riddles was amazing. The riddle activity had various rounds which added to the fun factor. It was an enriching experience for the students.

Safety First

Students were taught about some safety measures in school, at playground, at home etc. They were made aware of some important numbers (e.g. number of police station, fire station etc.) They were asked to memorize their parents contact numbers. Traffic rules were explained to them with the help of a small poem. They were also informed about good touch and bad touch along with escape strategies at the time of emergency.

'Table Etiquettes and Manners'

It is our endeavor  at DPS  Kidwai Nagar to concentrate and emphasize on all aspects of child growth. Keeping the social growth of our children in mind a 'Table etiquettes and good manners' activity was organized for the students wherein they were taught how to lay a table for a meal properly with the exact position of the crockery and cutlery. The teachers briefed them about table manners which included points like pulling the chair slowly without making any noise, avoiding any kind of talk while chewing food, etc. Apart from this the children were also encouraged to use the three golden words sorry, please and thank-you. They were also told to wish their elders and behave properly at public places. The objective of such activities is to teach the children public behaviour as well as table-manners.
